Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics in Salem, Oregon is seeking an Administrative / Clerical Support team member to join the Access Services department. This full-time, 40-hour/week non-exempt role supports daily operations, registries, and patient access workflows within the Revenue Cycle, providing accurate information, handling inquiries, and ensuring compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years experience in patient registration, medical front office or reception setting required.

Responsibilities

  • Courteously register patients, collect complete demographic and financial information, obtain required signatures, and ensure all regulatory and compliance standards are met.
  • Perform all registration functions within Epic (arrivals, HAR creation, pre-registration, verification, check-in), manage downtime procedures, collect payments and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Verify eligibility and benefits, secure required authorizations and referrals, determine correct filing order and accurately identify patient financial responsibility.
  • Monitor and resolve registration workqueues within established timeframes, correct errors, research complex issues, and provide education to staff to prevent recurring problems.
  • Serve as a trainer and mentor, act as an escalation resource for complex workflows and customer service concerns and support team performance and development.
  • Deliver patient-centered service using AIDET principles, resolve complex service issues, maintain professionalism and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • Actively participate in Lean/Kaizen initiatives, lead huddles, support staffing and scheduling needs, and contribute to department leadership activities aligned with organizational mission and values.

Position Type:Full time, 40 hours/week, Non-Exempt
Schedule:7:00 am - 5:30 pm, Sunday - Wednesday
Your role with us

This position assists in daily operations of the department in areas of quality assurance review, employee evaluation, candidate selection, employee relations and distribution of work. Lead team members in Access Services department are responsible for understanding how their functional area fits within the continuum of the Revenue Cycle, and for problem solving up and down stream of their area to provide the best outcomes for our organization and our patients. Serves as a point of escalation for registrars in need of process, tool, or customer service guidance on complex workflows. This position requires high standards of accuracy and exceptional judgment that exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians, and Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics.

Required qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years experience in patient registration, medical font office or reception setting required.
Additional information
  • 1 year experience in a lead, supervisor or management position preferred.
  • Training experience highly preferred.
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certified preferred.
