Heart + Paw in Maryland is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join a collaborative, pet-focused team. You will assist veterinarians in surgeries and routine care, manage patient records, and ensure high-quality diagnostic processing and client communication.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician in Maryland.
  • 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and client-relations skills.
  • Physical stamina to lift 20+ lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in using technology to improve care and client experience.
  • Preferred: Fear Free and HABRI certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with routine appointments, surgeries, and patient care.
  • Collect and process diagnostic samples, administer medications, and prepare for surgeries.
  • Record detailed patient histories and manage pharmaceutical inventories.
  • Take and interpret radiographs, including dental X-rays, and perform ultrasonic dental cleanings.
  • Monitor general anesthesia, dress wounds, and assist with procedures like catheterization and ear flushes.
  • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and treatment areas.
  • Educate clients on preventive care, dental hygiene, nutrition, and more.
  • Collaborate with the team to create a positive work environment and onboarding.
  • Promote services like grooming, daycare, and retail offerings.
