Job summary

The Pet Hospital of Tierrasanta, part of Amerivet, is seeking a Part-Time Registered Veterinary Technician in San Diego. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and a team player who loves animals and providing excellent client education.

The role involves rooming patients, surgical assistance, blood draws, venipuncture, radiology, and anesthesia support in a busy hospital open Mon-Fri with Saturday hours. CE programs at no cost to you.

Qualifications

• Licensed RVT with current registration.
• 3+ years veterinary experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and preparing them for procedures.
• Assist doctor with surgeries and related equipment.
• Draw blood and run bloodwork; perform venipuncture.
• Restrain animals safely and manage patient handling.
• Position and operate digital radiology for imaging.
• Obtain accurate medical histories and educate clients.
• Assist doctor and staff with restraint as needed.
• Place IV catheters and perform/ph call related tasks.
• Support dentistry procedures including x-rays, scaling and polishing.
• Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and aseptic techniques.

The hourly pay band for this position is $26.00 - $30.00; this varies depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location.

We are looking to add a Part-Time Registered Veterinary Technician to our team.

The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves animals and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running bloodwork, venipuncture, restraint, knowledge of x-ray and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and supportive team member.

The Pet Hospital of Tierrasanta is a 3-doctor hospital open from 8 am - 6 pm Monday through Friday, and 8:30 am - 5:30 pm on Saturday, closed on Sundays.

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Technician, the license must be current
• 3+ years of veterinary experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
• Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtaining accurate and thorough medical histories
• Assisting doctor and other technical staff with restraint
• Blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Placing IV catheters
• Digital radiology including positioning
• Dentistry (digital x-rays, scaling, polishing)
• Anesthesia (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
• TPR Laboratory skills such as ear and fecal cytology; HM5; Vetscan; Sedivue
• Excellent client communication/education
• Saturdays required
