Job summary

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is hiring a Registered Veterinary Technician to join a fun, supportive team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate about animal care. Responsibilities include rooming patients, drawing blood, IV catheter placement, radiology, and assisting in surgeries, with emphasis on proper animal handling and excellent client communication.

Qualifications

• 1+ years clinical experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
• Active California RVT license or eligible to transfer within 3 months of hire.
• AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare for examinations.
• Draw blood and place IV catheters.
• Assist in surgeries and provide anesthesia support as needed.
• Perform radiographs and basic dental procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals with care and maintain patient histories.

Job description

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is currently looking to hire a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience with rooming patients, drawing blood, placing IV catheters, radiology, assisting in surgeries, and proper animal handling & restraint, and being a positive, inclusive and motivating team member.

The hourly pay rate for this position starts at $26.00 - $38.00 per hour, this varies depending on experience, education, certifications, and location.

• Additional $500.00 Sign-on bonus!
• Continuing Education (CE) allowance, and paid CE PTO
• Annual Uniform allowance
• Professional License reimbursement
• Flexible scheduling - 8 hour shift length (Monday - Saturday)

Who You Are

• 1+ years clinical experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
• Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing. Or be eligible to transfer or become licensed in California within 3 months of hire.
• A degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
• Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
• Perform basic exam procedures
• Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
• Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting
• Ability to perform dental extractions as allowed by licensure preferred
• Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in-house laboratory
• Excellent client communication/education
• Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members
