Job summary

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and loves pets, with rooming patients, drawing blood, IV catheter placement, radiology, and assisting in surgeries. New RVT graduates are encouraged to apply.

We offer a $500 sign-on bonus, CE allowance and paid CE PTO, uniform allowance, and flexible scheduling with 8-hour shifts (Mon-Sat) at our San Rafael facility.

Qualifications

• 1+ years clinical experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
• Registered Veterinary Technician in California with active license in good standing.
• Eligible to transfer or become licensed in California within 3 months of hire.
• AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Passion for working with animals and owners.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, draw blood, place IV catheters, and assist in surgeries.
• Perform radiology, including digital X-ray positioning.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and humanely.
• Obtain accurate medical histories and document findings.
• Assist in dental procedures (scaling, polishing, charting, radiographs).
• Assist with anesthesia (induction, intubation, monitoring).
• Conduct in-house lab tasks (microscope, IDEXX) and report results.
• Maintain client communication and education.
• Collaborate with doctors and team members to provide compassionate care.

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is currently looking to hire a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience with rooming patients, drawing blood, placing IV catheters, radiology, assisting in surgeries, and proper animal handling & restraint, and being a positive, inclusive and motivating team member. New RVT Graduates are encouraged to apply! The hourly pay rate for this position starts at $26.00 - $38.00 per hour, this varies depending on experience, education, certifications, and location. Additional $500.00 Sign-on bonus! Who You Are:

• 1+ years clinical experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
• Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California, license must be active and in good standing.
• Or be eligible to transfer or become licensed in California within 3 months of hire.
• A degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
• Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
• Perform basic exam procedures
• Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
• Perform complete dental procedures, including digital x-rays, scaling, polishing, charting
• Ability to perform dental extractions as allowed by licensure preferred
• Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in-house laboratory
• Excellent client communication/education
• Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members
