Job summary

Maplewood Veterinary Center in Pleasant Valley Township, IA is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician. You will assist veterinarians, perform lab work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement, and maintain medical records. Schedule is 4 days/week, Mon-Fri, 7:15 AM-5:00 PM with a 1-hour lunch; weekends are not required.

Compensation: $19-$21/hour based on experience. Requirements include RVT certification and the ability to handle animals safely, with knowledge of common diseases

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification is required.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Familiarity with common disease states and reporting changes.
• Knowledge of hospital safety guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians with patient care, exams, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
• Safely handle and restrain animals with compassion.
• Communicate care instructions and status updates to clients.
• Perform lab work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
• Maintain medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
• Keep exam rooms and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
• Follow hospital safety and regulatory guidelines.

Veterinary Technician

Salary: $19 - $21 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: Full-time, 4 days per week, Monday-Friday, 7:15 AM-5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. No weekend hours!

KeyResponsibilities:

• Support veterinarians with patient care, exams, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.

• Perform technical duties such as lab work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
• Help keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
• Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times.

Qualifications:

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification is required.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Knowledgeable about common disease states and able to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
