Job summary

Maplewood Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. You will help ensure high standards of animal care and customer service while working a 4-day schedule with no weekends.

Expected salary is $17–$20 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k); plus an employee pet discount. Prior veterinary experience and surgical exposure are required.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience is required.
• Surgical experience required.
• Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with pet owners about care and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, stocking supplies and ensuring a sanitary environment.

Salary: $17-$20 per hour, based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: Full-time, 4 days per week, Monday–Friday, 7:15 AM–5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. No weekend hours!
