Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health Care Center in Centerville, OH is hiring a Registered Veterinary Technician for Emergency/Specialty care. Full-time, 3rd shift (6pm-6:30am) with rotating Tues/Wed/Sat Week 1 and Sun/Thu/Fri Week 2, plus one on-call weekend per month.

Compensation ranges from $25-$35 per hour, with $3/hour shift differential from 7pm-7am and additional on-call pay. A $5,000 hiring bonus is offered (50% with first check and 50% at one year).

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, CVT, LVT, or equivalent) with strong technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients with veterinarians to plan diagnostics and treatments.
• Provide high-quality nursing care, monitor hospitalized patients, and ensure comfort.
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia induction and recovery, radiography.
• Support surgical nursing and perioperative patient care, maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with clients about treatments, updates, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with veterinarians and technicians in a fast-paced team environment.

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will

• Assess and triage emergency patients upon arrival, working alongside veterinarians to establish and implement appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
• Provide high-quality nursing care through administering treatments, closely monitoring hospitalized patients, identifying changes in condition, and prioritizing patient comfort and well-being.
• Utilize advanced technical skills such as venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic sample collection, radiography, anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery, surgical nursing, and additional procedures within your scope of practice.
• Help maintain smooth and efficient patient flow throughout the Emergency and Critical Care department while completing accurate medical documentation and upholding high standards of patient care.
• Provide compassionate client communication through patient updates, education on treatment plans, and support throughout the admission, discharge, and overall care process.
• Work collaboratively with veterinarians and fellow technicians in a fast-paced, team-focused environment to support exceptional outcomes for patients.
• Help foster a positive hospital culture by working collaboratively, supporting fellow team members, and strengthening your clinical skills through ongoing learning and professional development.

What You Bring

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, CVT, LVT, or equivalent) with strong technical skills, including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, anesthesia induction and monitoring, patient preparation and recovery, surgical nursing, dental prophylaxis, radiography, and perioperative patient care.
• Previous experience in veterinary medicine with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate clients, work effectively with veterinarians and fellow team members, and adapt your communication style to a variety of situations.

Our Dayton location was established in 2008, and through the years our team has proudly cared for thousands of pets in this AAHA accredited hospital. In June of 2019, we moved to a brand new, 15,000 square foot facility. Our new hospital, located next door to our previous location, is home to 24-hour Emergency Care, Cardiology, and Radiology, Surgery. Our hospital is also AAHA accredited.
