Job summary

Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital of Grand Rapids is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) for full-time emergency care, with 3 twelve-hour day shifts per week and 7am-7pm coverage.

You will assist veterinarians, monitor anesthesia, manage lab work, and educate clients, in a fast-paced, compassionate hospital that operates 24/7 in a newer facility.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Michigan or eligible for Michigan license transfer.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written) is required.
  • Ability to stay calm, think critically, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced emergency and critical care environment.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional patient care and providing compassionate, five-star service to clients during stressful moments.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Apply strong technical skills, including IV catheter placement, medication administration, and monitoring of hospitalized patients.
  • Perform and monitor anesthesia using ECG, SpO₂, EtCO₂, and NIBP.
  • Assist with surgical procedures and provide post-operative patient care.
  • Collect, handle, and prepare laboratory samples and utilize in-house diagnostic equipment.
  • Document patient histories accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records within the PIMS system (EzyVet).
  • Keep thorough and accurate communication logs, manage department voicemail, client callbacks, and documentation.
  • Educate and communicate with clients about pet condition, treatment plan, and follow-up care.
  • Help maintain hospital cleanliness, adhere to safety protocols, and assist with inventory.
  • Develop advanced skills and apply them to their fullest potential.
  • Participate in clinical trials, contributing to advancements in veterinary medicine and the future of pet health.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Schedule: Full Time | 3 Twelve Hour Shifts Per Week - Day Shift Availability Required, 7am-7pm | Shift Bid Every 6 Months | Rotating Weekends & Holidays | Week 1- Tue/Wed/Sat Week 2- Sun/Mon/Thurs


Compensation: $21-30/hr Dependent On Experience

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will

  • Support veterinarians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
