Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Registered Sonographer for Echo-days in Roanoke, VA. The role involves performing transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, contrast studies, and related imaging within the Cardiovascular Institute.

Experience in a hospital setting is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply. ARDMS/ARRT registry and CPR certification are required.

Qualifications

ARRT registry/ARDMS in OB/Gyn, Abd or Neurosonography; eligible to obtain registry.
CPR certification required.
Graduate of approved School of Ultrasound or equivalent training.
High school graduate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Operates highly specialized ultrasound equipment including PACS.
Performs transthoracic echocardiograms and related studies.
Trains students and staff as assigned.
Interacts with patients and families to ensure comfort and safety.
Assesses data to identify patient requirements and plan of care.
Performs transesophageal echocardiograms and contrast studies.

Job duties and responsibilities to include: Transthoracic echocardiograms, Transesophageal echocardiograms, Contrast and agitated saline studies, Clinical trials and research, Low dose Dobutamine stress testing for aortic stenosis, Cardiac surgery OR procedures.

Cardiac structural procedures to include:

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)

Transcatheter mitral valve repair (MitraClip)

Left atrial appendage closure (Watchman)

PFO and ASD closure

Impella left ventricular support device

Left ventricular remodeling (clinical trial)

Experience: Experienced sonographer with hospital-based experience preferred, but new registered graduates are encouraged to apply.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: ARDMS or CCI Echocardiography registry required, or candidate must be eligible to obtain registry, BLS required.

Assesses patients for procedures ordered prior to, during, and after treatment according to Imaging Services/Departmental Guidelines.

Operates highly specialized equipment, including radiographic, CR (Computed Radiography), DR (Digital Radiography), and PACS (Picture Archive Communication System).

Trains students and staff as assigned.

Creates a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families.

Assesses data reflective of the patient status. Interprets information needed to identify each patients requirement and/or specific needs, and provides care per applicable policy and procedures.

Interacts with patients, families, visitors and all members of the healthcare team to develop, coordinate and manage the plan of care.

Compensation Range

$33.52 - $50.28

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
