Responsibilities

• Interviews, examines and assesses patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
• Consults with physicians to develop patient treatment plans. Creates therapy programs based on physician instructions and assessment findings.
• Performs diagnostic tests such as measuring lung capacity and blood gas analysis to test oxygen and carbon dioxide levels.
• Delivers chest physiotherapy, aerosol medications, and non-invasive therapies (CPAP/BIPAP); may assist ventilated patients.
• Monitors and records progress of treatment; assists interns during rotations.
• Educates patients on how to use treatments and maintains equipment.
