Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for PRN Days in the Respiratory Department at Texas Health Arlington Memorial in Arlington, TX. The role entails patient assessments, therapy administration, and documentation across adult and neonatal populations, with emphasis on high-quality care.

Required credentials include RCP and RRT upon hire, BCLS, with ACLS preferred, and NICU NR P required if applicable.

Qualifications

  • AMA approved Respiratory Care Program is required.
  • Foreign education equivalency must comply with CLIA regulations.
  • Must hold or obtain RRT certification and license upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain/verify physician order for therapy and validate appropriateness.
  • Review medical records and obtain pertinent history from patient or family.
  • Perform therapy procedures within scope of practice.
  • Document verification of orders and each treatment session per regulatory guidelines.

Work location: Texas Health Arlington Memorial: 800 W. Randol Mill Road Arlington, TX 76012

Work hours: PRN Days; 3 shifts within a 6-week schedule, one being a weekend shift

Here’s What You Need
Education
  • Other Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Care Program required
  • Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
Experience
  • 1 year med/surg or critical care experience preferred
  • Adult and Neonatal ICU experience strongly preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner upon hire required And
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist upon hire required And
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required And
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support upon hire preferred And
  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program NRP required if working in the NICU 90 days required
What You Will Do
Patient Assessment/Plan of Care
  • Obtains/verifies physician order for therapy and validate for appropriateness.
  • Reviews available medical records and obtain pertinent medical history from patient or family.
Patient Treatment
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.
Documentation
  • Documents verification of physician orders prior to delivery of care.
  • Documents aspects of each treatment session in accordance with departmental, JCAHO, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
Professional Accountability
  • Utilizes available resources (equipment, support personnel, educational resources) to maximize efficiency and productivity and meet departmental needs.
  • Participates in orientation and training of students and new employees.
