Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Respiratory Therapist- Per Diem.

In this role, the successful candidate will perform cardiopulmonary evaluation, respiratory treatment techniques, and education to the patient, family, and public.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Review data in patient records, including admission and current R.C. orders, patient history, physical exam, PFT values, ABG results, and laboratory data.
2. Set up and maintain respiratory equipment as instructed.
3. Attend department meetings and in-services as instructed.
4. Perform patient assessments to monitor effects of therapy provided and document this assessment in the patient chart.
5. Conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve and maintain adequate oxygenation.
6. Conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures to maintain a patent airway, including humidification.
7. Obtain and analyze ABGs as ordered or per policy.
8. Follow department protocols, such as weaning protocol, ventilator monitoring, cuff pressure monitoring, etc.
9. Select, assemble, and check mechanical ventilators and positive pressure devices for proper function and availability.
10. Evaluate patient's ventilatory status through invasive and non-invasive monitoring.
11. Respond to emergency codes such as Med Stat.
12. Educate patients and/or families on respiratory therapy and document this education.
13. Collect and evaluate clinical information through inspection, palpation, and auscultation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Certificate of graduation from a CoArc-accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Bachelor's preferred). Must hold a valid NYS Respiratory Therapist license, NBRC Registry, and BLS Certification.

Qualified candidates must be able to communicate effectively with all organizational levels.
