Job summary

KTA Super Stores in Hawaii seeks a Registered Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacist with prescription processing, counting, packaging, labeling, and regulatory compliance. You will assist with insurance adjudication, inventory management, and customer service in a fast-paced store environment.

Ideal candidates maintain Hawai‘i registration, demonstrate accuracy, and excel at teamwork. Weekend availability and a customer-first mindset are valued for this role.

Qualifications

• Must maintain an active Hawai‘i Pharmacy Technician Registration per Hawai‘i Board of Pharmacy requirements.

From our modest beginnings in a 500-square-foot store in 1916, KTA Super Stores and our associates remain deeply rooted in a single, quiet philosophy: to humbly serve the community that sustains us.Core ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of a Registered Pharmacy Technician is to ensure customer satisfaction by assisting the Pharmacist on duty in technical and production aspects of prescription processing—including preparation, counting, packaging, labeling, and other functions permitted under statute—while maintaining accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.Prescription Processing & Production: Receive, enter, and process prescription information into the pharmacy system under pharmacist supervision. Retrieve medications from stock, count, measure, pour, package, and label prescriptions accurately. Operate spatulas, counting trays, automatic pill counters (\"robots\"), and other prescription processing technology.Insurance & Billing Adjudication: Assist with third-party billing, claim adjudication, and resolution of rejections. Maintain accurate prescription records and documentation.Inventory & Workflow Management: Refill and maintain automated dispensing/counting equipment. Assist pharmacists with workflow management and prescription organization. Order, check-in, rotate stock, invoice vendor merchandise, report damaged items, process returns, and monitor medication outdates.Customer & Team Engagement: Promptly, courteously, and efficiently greet, thank, offer assistance to, and meet the needs of all program participants and customers with local hospitality. Answer incoming phone calls, direct calls appropriately, handle POS cash register transactions, and perform clerical/administrative duties. Assist with training and mentoring Pharmacy Assistants as appropriate.Working Conditions & Physical DemandsEnvironment: Continuously perform all duties in an air-conditioned building with a high volume of customers and co-workers. Seldom require travel to work at other store locations.Physical Effort: Continuously stand and walk throughout entire shifts; use hands/fingers to type on computers; maintain corrected vision when verifying customer and prescription information. Occasionally stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb ladders/step-stools. Seldom lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Equipment Use: Frequently use computers, keyboards, POS cash registers, spatulas, counting trays, automatic pill counters (\"robots\"), telephones, and standard office equipment (calculators, photo-copiers, fax machines, scanners). Occasionally use box cutters, ladders, stock wagons, hand trucks, and adding machines. All registration costs, renewal fees, and associated expenses are the sole responsibility of the employee.Age Restrictions:Must be at least 16 years of age to use a case cutter.Must be at least 18 years of age to operate a trash baler, freight elevator, or power-driven equipment.Must be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid Driver License, and receive company certification to operate a forklift.Skills & Knowledge: Skilled in verbal and written communication, well-organized, computer literate, and capable of managing a variety of activities. Good mathematical skills for computing, measuring, and billing. Ability to use technology and pharmacy system software.
