Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Registered Nurse in Milwaukee, WI for full-time weekend shifts in Med Surg Neuro. You’ll lead evidence-based care for patients recovering from strokes and brain injuries, coordinating with physicians, therapists, and families to ensure a seamless recovery.

You will monitor changes, respond rapidly, and educate patients for a confident transition home. This role requires Wisconsin RN licensure or a valid multi-state license, plus BLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• RN licensure in Wisconsin or a valid multi-state license.
• Diploma in nursing from an accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Lead compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for stroke, brain injury, and post-surgical patients.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care between physicians, therapists, and families.
• Monitor patient status and intervene promptly to maintain safety and outcomes.
• Educate patients and families and plan safe, effective discharge.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Lead the delivery of compassionate, evidence-based care for patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, and surgeries, ensuring clinical excellence at every bedside.
• Coordinate the multidisciplinary care journey by acting as the central hub between physicians, therapists, and families to ensure a seamless and safe recovery process.
• Monitor and interpret patient clinical status with high precision, proactively identifying changes in condition to ensure rapid intervention and high-quality outcomes.
• Empower patients and their families through dedicated education and discharge planning, ensuring they have the tools and confidence they need for a successful transition home.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing OR current home state license if considered multi-state/Compact State.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of
  hire.
