Job summary

ATTUF Group in Illinois is looking for a Registered Nurse Trainer (RNT) to lead nursing care and DSP medication oversight. The role requires reviewing health assessments and medication orders, coordinating visits, and communicating with physicians and staff.

The position also involves training DSPs, evaluating medication skills, authorizing DSPs to administer medications, supervising administration, and maintaining DHS-approved training records and annual competency reviews.

Responsibilities

• Complete or review nursing health assessments.
• Review medication orders, doses and side effects.
• Review MARs, labels and orders for accuracy.
• Coordinate healthcare visits and follow-up care.
• Communicate with physicians, pharmacists and staff.
• Monitor chronic conditions and changes in health.
• Review medication refusals, PRNs and errors.
• Update care plans and nursing instructions.
• Document nursing findings and interventions.
• Review current RN health assessment before training.
• Teach DHS-approved medication classes and testing.
• Evaluate DSP medication skills and knowledge.
• Authorize DSPs to administer medications.
• Supervise medication administration by DSPs.
• Complete required annual DSP competency reviews.
• Retrain DSPs; revoke authorization when necessary.
• Teach client-specific medication changes and needs.
• Assess medication self-administration using DHS tools.
• Keep DSP training and authorization records.
• Help analyze medication error trends each year.
