Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Telemetry unit on nights. You'll monitor patients, assess conditions, administer medications, and collaborate with physicians to adjust care plans.

Candidates must hold a valid RN license, BLS; ACLS within 30 days; basic arrhythmia interpretation; BSN preferred. The role includes 12-hour shifts, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• State RN license required; BLS on hire; ACLS within 30 days.
• ACLS within 30 days after hire; BSN preferred.
• Ventilator management experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' conditions, including vital signs and cardiac rhythms, to craft care plans.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vitals using telemetry equipment.
• Communicate changes in condition to physicians with diagnostic results.
• Administer medications, including IVs, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Provide hands-on care, wound care, treatments, ADLs, and emotional support.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, meds, and self-care.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient status and coordinate with physicians.
• Deliver safe patient care following the nursing process.

Overview

Employment Type: Full Time

Department: Telemetry

Shifts Available: Nights

Hours: 12 hour – 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, Texas

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall health status, to create individualized care plans


• Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment, which allows for remote monitoring of patients' heart rates and rhythms


• Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition, including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology


• Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous medications, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions


• Provide hands-on care to patients, including wound care, administering treatments, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing emotional support


• Educate patients and their families about their conditions, medications, and treatments, as well as provide guidance on self-care practices and lifestyle modifications in the Telemetry Unit


• Respond quickly to changes in patient conditions throughout shift and be able to address any concerns to the physician as soon as possible


• Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Qualifications

1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire. 4. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.5. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.6. Ventilator Management experience preferred.7. Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred.8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
