Unit Specializes in: Our 20-bed surgical intensive care unit cares for patients with complex surgical diagnoses, including post-cardiac catheterization, open heart surgery, and other procedures requiring constant monitoring or lifesaving interventions. Our nurses are trained in caring for patients with balloon-pumps and Impella devices. RN utilize the hypothermic protocol in post-arrest patients. JOB DESCRIPTION

The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Registered Nurse (RN) is part of the Patient Care Services Team, responsible for overseeing nursing care provided by the team. The RN manages patient care activities, applying independent judgment, and collaborates with all team members including ancillary and support services. The role involves leadership, partnership, teaching, and supervision.

The DMC RN:

• Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare providers
• Delegates, assesses, provides, and evaluates patient care
• Provides and delegates patient care activities to team members
• Monitors patient progress and prepares patients for discharge
• Reports directly to senior management and participates in shared decision-making
