Description

Unit Specializes in: Our 20-bed surgical intensive care unit cares for patients with complex surgical diagnoses, including post-cardiac catheterization, open heart surgery, and other procedures requiring continuous monitoring or lifesaving interventions. Nurses are trained in caring for patients with balloon-pumps and Impella devices. RNs utilize hypothermic protocols in post-arrest patients. The team participates in orientation programs provided by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. About DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital

As DMC’s largest hospital, Sinai-Grace offers a comprehensive range of services including a heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and cosmetic services. The hospital features a minimally invasive joint replacement program and operates over 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers. Sinai-Grace is nationally recognized with a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant for its cardiac care standards.

Job Responsibilities

The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Registered Nurse (RN) is part of the Patient Care Services Team, responsible for nursing care management. The RN oversees patient care activities, applying independent judgment, and collaborates with team members including ancillary and support staff. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, teaching, and supervision.

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare providers.
  • Delegates, assesses, provides, and evaluates patient care.
  • Delegates patient care activities to team members.
  • Monitors patient progress and prepares patients for discharge.
  • Reports to senior unit management and participates in shared decision-making.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a school of nursing required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Licensed to practice as an RN in Michigan required.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required.
