Surgery RN Position Summary:

Provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural, and other needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team about patient condition or response to treatment.

• Completes focused patient assessments with reassessments based on condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
• Performs patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration, following the 6 rights to reduce errors.
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs technical and manual skills.
• Ensures patient safety and reduces errors in all aspects of care.
• Operates equipment safely and correctly.
• Educates patients and families on disease processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Licenses:

• Current RN license in Kentucky

Certifications:

• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire/transfer)
• ACLS within 90 days of hire/transfer

Minimum Work Experience:

• 1 year of healthcare experience preferred
