Job summary

Wallowa Memorial Hospital is seeking an RN Supervisor to lead nursing care across the hospital, ensuring safe, high-quality patient-centered outcomes in line with Oregon standards.

The role provides clinical guidance to RNs, CNAs, PCTs, ED techs and other staff, with a focus on coordinating operations, staffing, and care plans while maintaining regulatory compliance and promoting professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Oregon RN license in good standing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of acute care nursing experience.
  • ER and OB experience required, or the ability to orient and complete competency requirements within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and supporting nursing staff to ensure effective patient care delivery.
  • Coordinating daily patient care operations, staff assignments and unit workflow.
  • Participating in patient assessments, developing and evaluating care plans and ensuring goal achievement.
  • Serving as a resource for clinical decision-making and policy interpretation.
  • Assisting with staff education, training and orientation, particularly in ER and OB departments.
  • Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards and nursing scope of practice.
  • Responding to emergencies and assuming leadership during critical incidents as needed.
  • Collaborating with physicians, interdisciplinary teams and hospital leadership to support continuity of care.

JOB SUMMARY:

The RN Supervisor is a leadership role responsible for the oversight and coordination of nursing care within the hospital setting, ensuring safe, high-quality and patient-centered care is delivered across departments. This role includes the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care plans and outcomes, while maintaining compliance with all standards of nursing practice as legislated by the State of Oregon.

The RN Supervisor provides clinical guidance and operational support to nursing staff, including RNs, CNAs, PCTs, ED Technicians, and other patient care personnel. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical expertise in medical-surgical care and is capable of supporting both emergency and obstetric units.

This individual must demonstrate sound clinical judgment, strong leadership skills and a commitment to fostering a collaborative, team-based environment.

Registered Nurse Supervisor - Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
  • Current Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • Minimum of five (5) years of acute care nursing experience required
  • Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
  • Emergency Room (ER) and/or Obstetrics (OB) experience required, or the ability to orient and complete competency requirements within six (6) months of hire
  • Prior charge nurse or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required
  • ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in nursing practice in accordance with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, team leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and other computer systems used in clinical settings
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse populations
  • Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen and reference checks
