Job summary

Henry Ford Health Genesys in Grand Blanc, MI is seeking a Licensed Registered Nurse to join the SICU team for full-time night shifts (7pm–7:30am). You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care aligned with standards and patient care goals.

Responsibilities include educating patients and families, administering medications and IV therapy, monitoring vitals and labs, performing procedures, and collaborating with physicians, case managers, and staff to ensure safe discharge planning

Qualifications

• Licensed RN from Michigan Board of Nursing required within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA required within 90 days of hire or instructor.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products per policies.
• Monitor vital signs, labs, pain, intake/output, and glucose.
• Perform catheterization, wound care, specimen collection, and prep for procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and staff for discharge planning.
• Respond to emergencies with appropriate protocols and maintain documentation.
• Promote safety, infection control, confidentiality, and quality improvement.
• Provide leadership and foster a collaborative work environment.

General Summary

• Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with established standards, clinical practice guidelines, and patient care goals.
• Develop and coordinate multidisciplinary plans of care while promoting patient rights, dignity, culture, preferences, and expressed needs.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, safety measures, discharge instructions, and self-care needs.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other therapeutic interventions according to established policies and procedures.
• Monitor patient physiological status, including vital signs, lab results, pain levels, intake/output, and blood glucose, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in condition.
• Perform and assist with nursing procedures including catheterization, wound care, specimen collection, IV therapy, and patient preparation for procedures and surgery.
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, hospital staff, patients, families, and community agencies to ensure continuity of care and effective discharge planning.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations through timely intervention, use of emergency equipment, and adherence to established protocols.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, patient education, and outcomes.
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, confidentiality, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide leadership, direction, and support to team members while fostering a respectful, collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements

• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Or Certified Instructor.
• Education: Requires a graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
