Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing within 60 days of hire date.
  • BLS Provider certification from AHA within 90 days of hire date; instructor allowed.
  • RN program graduation from an approved nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care per standards and patient goals.
  • Develop multidisciplinary plans of care while respecting patient rights and preferences.
  • Educate patients and families about treatment plans, meds, safety, discharge instructions, and self-care.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other interventions per policy.
  • Monitor patient status, vital signs, labs, pain, intake/output, and glucose.
  • Perform nursing procedures including catheterization, wound care, and IV therapy.
  • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, hospital staff, families, and community agencies for continuity of care.
  • Respond to emergencies per established protocols and use of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Promote safety, infection control, confidentiality, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide leadership and support to team members and foster collaboration.

GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with established standards, clinical practice guidelines, and patient care goals.
  • Develop and coordinate multidisciplinary plans of care while promoting patient rights, dignity, culture, preferences, and expressed needs.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, safety measures, discharge instructions, and self-care needs.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other therapeutic interventions according to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor patient physiological status, including vital signs, lab results, pain levels, intake/output, and blood glucose, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in condition.
  • Perform and assist with nursing procedures including catheterization, wound care, specimen collection, IV therapy, and patient preparation for procedures and surgery.
  • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, hospital staff, patients, families, and community agencies to ensure continuity of care and effective discharge planning.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations through timely intervention, use of emergency equipment, and adherence to established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, patient education, and outcomes.
  • Promote patient safety, infection prevention, confidentiality, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to team members while fostering a respectful, collaborative work environment.
Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Or Certified Instructor.
  • Education: Requires a graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program.
