Job summary

Maria Parham Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Women's Services to provide direct patient care using the nursing process. This role reports to the Director or Manager of Women's Services and supports a team delivering high-quality obstetric and neonatal care.

The position requires NC RN license, ASN, BLS, and preferred ACLS/PALS, with 6–12 months hospital experience in L&D or Med/Surg, plus NRP. Excellent communication and collaboration are essential for family-centered care.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact.
• ASN from an accredited nursing program.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred.
• 6–12 months hospital experience in Labor and Delivery or Medical/Surgical.
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification and NRP certification are required.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary:

Provides direct patient care in the Women's Services Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
• ACLS and PALS (preferred)
• Minimum of six months to one year of hospital experience as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery or Medical/Surgical setting is required.
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification (required)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required)
• Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
