Job Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of operating a unit within our center, from supervising nursing staff to monitoring patient care.
- Actively engage in clinical development of staff under areas of responsibility. Identify patient and family needs for education and provide needed information.
- Use the nursing process to meet the clinical and psychosocial needs of the patient and family. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in documentation.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, and safety issues within the episode of care. Seek opportunities to improve clinical practice.
- Seek guidance and ask questions to continuously improve nursing practice.
- Collaborate with physicians and the care team to ensure quality resident care.
- Report and record all changes observed in residents' condition or behavior in accordance with documentation policies.
- Comply with medication use policies, safety policies, and infection control practices.
- Build healthy relationships among staff, colleagues, and other disciplines.
- Set priorities and promote shared governance at the unit level.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Apply policies and procedures fairly and consistently.
- Ensure resident care is documented properly and address non-compliance issues promptly.
- Ensure thorough hand-offs between shifts to promote communication.
- Facilitate communication among nursing personnel, departments, and physicians, ensuring follow-up actions.
- Implement physician's orders timely and notify relevant parties of changes in resident condition.
- Communicate necessary information to families and responsible persons.
Qualifications
- RN with extensive clinical experience in long-term care preferred
- Prior administrative experience a plus
- Strong communication, diplomacy, and leadership skills
