Job summary

Norman Regional is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Flex Pool to collaborate with health professionals across multiple units, delivering direct and indirect patient care with evidence-based practice. The role supports units including Med/Surg, Ortho, Surgical, Medical/Oncology, IMC, PCCU and more.

Shifts are 7:00 pm – 7:00 am, with a regular full-time position. Requires Oklahoma RN license, BLS, NIHSS; ACLS and EKG interpretation certification within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• RN license in Oklahoma and BLS; NIHSS required.
• Diploma or ADN required; BSN/MSN preferred.
• Experience: 1 year Med/Surg; 1 year IMC; annual competencies for Hemodynamics and Pacemaker.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with health professionals to assess, plan, implement, delegate, evaluate, and coordinate patient care.
• Conduct systematic assessments and reassessments for appropriate ages/conditions.
• Provide nursing care through interventions to achieve goals, guided by standards.

• $31.31 - $51.14/hr based on previous work experience.
• Flex differential $12.50/hr.

The Flex Pool is a dynamic team of employees who can work across multiple service lines at all four NRHS campuses, including medical and cardiac intensive care units, medical and cardiac step‑down units, med/surg, ortho/neuro, oncology, and post‑surgical units, as well as occasional procedural assignments. The Flex Pool delivers exceptional care wherever needed throughout the organization.

Job Summary

Registered Nurses in the Flex Pool collaborate with other health professionals to assess, plan, implement, delegate, evaluate, and coordinate patient care across a range of units, providing both direct and indirect nursing care and ensuring safe, evidence‑based practice.

• Assessment/reassessment – Systematically assesses and reassesses the health care needs of individuals, appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions.
• Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes – Analyzes assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes.
• Implementation and Coordination of Care – Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs, guided by professional judgment and current practice standards.
• Evaluation and Discharge – Evaluates patient outcomes using critical thinking and evidence‑based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts, and reach sound conclusions.
• Professional Practice – Applies professional standards and performs additional nursing functions as required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to float between all the units of two of the approved pods.
• Approved pods include: Medical Surgical Observation (Med/Surg), Ortho, Surgical, Medical/Oncology, Intermediate Care- IMC, and PCCU.

Education

• Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

Experience

• RN experience as follows:
• Med/Surg Pod – 1 year experience in an equivalent area.
• IMC Pod – 1 year experience in IMC or an equivalent setting.
• Experience must include sufficient orientation to and demonstrated annual competencies for Basic & Advanced Hemodynamics, Pacemaker.

Licensure / Certification / Registration / ETC.

• Med/Surg Pod – Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license, Basic Life Support (BLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Intermediate Care – Current Oklahoma RN license, BLS, and NIHSS, and must also have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic EKG interpretation certified within 6 months of hire.
• All required certifications (BLS, ACLS, NIHSS) must be maintained through re‑training throughout employment.
