Job summary

Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Surgery team in a fast-paced OR environment. The role focuses on direct patient care, assessments, and collaborative care planning, with opportunities to expand expertise in a 13-operating room facility handling 15-30 cases daily.

Active North Carolina RN license required; ACLS/PALS within six months, BLS within 30 days, and 1-2 years OR RN experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS within six months of hire.
• 1–2 years Operating Room RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in the surgical setting using the nursing process.
• Performs accurate patient assessments and identifies needs.
• Initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Delivers care appropriate to patient condition and age.
• Documents medical necessity in the chart.
• Completes and revises the Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
• Performs timely QI assessments.

The Operating Room team at Frye Regional Medical Center offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment where nurses play an essential role in delivering exceptional surgical care. With 13 operating rooms and approximately 15-30 cases performed daily, team members gain diverse procedural experience while working alongside skilled surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

• Provides direct patient care in the surgical setting using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Additional requirements include:

• Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One to Two years of Operating Room RN experience required.
