Job summary

Alvin ISD is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a student-focused school nurse. The RN will implement a comprehensive health services program across campus, promote student health, provide case management, and coordinate care with families and school staff.

Required qualifications include graduation from an accredited nursing program, valid Texas RN license, CPR/AED/First Aid, vision/hearing screening certification, and Diabetes risk assessment certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
• Valid RN license to practice nursing in Texas.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
• Certified to conduct vision and hearing screening (Texas).
• Diabetes risk assessment screening certificate.

Primary Purpose

Implement a comprehensive program of health services for the campus. Promote health and safety; provide case management; and collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification:
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
  • Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners
  • CPR/ AED/First Aid certification
  • Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening
  • Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment screening certificate
• Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures
  • Maintaining electronic health records
• Experience:
  • Preferably Two years of nursing experience, preferably in school or community health
