Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a contingent Registered Nurse for the Short Stay Unit, a part-time role with rotating shifts. The unit cares for adults >17, including post-surgical and infusion patients, with a typical disposition within 24–48 hours.

Responsibilities include patient information gathering, care planning, and family education. BSN preferred; Michigan RN license, BLS; ACLS for select departments. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nursing program with eligibility to sit for the NCLEX.
• Current Michigan RN license; BLS. ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency.
• BSN preferred; must obtain BSN within five years of hire or transfer.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age-specific needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish therapeutic relationships.
• Critical thinking and attention to detail in planning and delivering care.

Description: Contingent Registered Nurse

Department: Short Stay Unit

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose

The Short Stay Unit has 25 bays, with 32 colleagues and primarily supports adult patients greater than 17 years of age. They treat post-surgical and post procedural patients, as well as Infusion and Transfusion patients. Medical and surgical patients with a variety of diagnoses with an anticipated disposition within 24-48 hours.

The Telemetry Monitor Unit with 28 colleagues monitors and observe a group of patients remotely using continuous tele-visual monitoring to assure patient safety. Staff on this unit have additional duties related to patient monitoring and equipment maintenance in the central station and on the patient care units.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.
• Licensure: Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License. BLS. ACLS required for the following departments: Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency
• Experience: Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply. Graduation from accredited nursing program. Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care
