Job summary

Trinity Health’s Brighton Short Stay unit in the Ann Arbor system is hiring a Registered Nurse for a part-time night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) on the 18-bed post-surgical and inpatient observation unit. The role focuses on caring for patients who need short hospital-level care, typically under 36 hours, with coordinated tests, monitoring, and timely discharge planning.

Qualifications include RN licensure in Michigan with BLS; ACLS for certain departments; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of nursing that enables sitting for the NCLEX to become licensed as an RN.
• BSN preferred as per posting.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information.
• Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care.
• Uses teach-back methodology to educate patient and family.
• Seeks to prevent potential hospital-acquired conditions.
• Communicates patient status and interventions during rounds and handoffs.

Position Purpose:

The Short Stay Unit is an 18 bed post-surgical and inpatient observation unit caring for patients who need a short period of hospital-level care—typically less than 36 hours. The team manages patients recovering from procedures, monitoring for condition changes, coordinating tests and consults, and preparing patients for timely discharge

Shifts Available: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Nights

Status Available: Part-Time - Includes Weekend and Holiday coverage

Required Qualifications:

Education

Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure

• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS.
• ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency

Experience

Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply

• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care
