Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the 2 East Surgical Stepdown/PCU unit. The position supports high-acuity surgical patients with NCLEX-eligible licensure, BLS, and ACLS in select departments.

The role offers full-time or part-time status with every other weekend and holiday requirements. BSN preferred and growth opportunities within St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals and Trinity Health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program eligible to take the NCLEX to become a licensed RN.
• BSN degree preferred; new hires may be required to obtain BSN within five years.
• Current State of Michigan RN license and BLS; ACLS required for designated departments.

• Gathers and analyzes patient information and develops an individualized care plan.

Registered Nurse

Department: Surgical Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Employment Type: Full time

Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift

Position Purpose

2 East cares for high‑acuity surgical patients who require frequent monitoring, multiple lines/tubes, and complex nursing care. The 32‑bed unit specializes in Core Surgical Services, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery. Additional Surgical Populations include General Surgery, Trauma, and Plastic Surgery. 2 East is a fast‑paced, dynamic unit known for High volume and high patient turnover. Nurses will use constant clinical decision-making with diverse patient scenarios (including medicine overflow patients when beds permit). This unit is a strong professional foundation for nurses aspiring to:

• ICU roles
• Emergency Department roles
• Other high‑acuity specialties

Shifts Available

7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Nights

Status Available

Full time, Part time Every Other Weekend and Every other Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-Time team members.

Required Qualifications

Education

Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure

• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS.
• ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency.

Experience

Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply.

• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care
