Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 5 North Medicine unit. This full-time night shift position requires NCLEX eligibility, Michigan RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS for specific departments.

Nurses will support telemetry, stroke and general medicine patients as part of an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include assessing patients, planning and evaluating care, educating patients and families, and ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required (State of Michigan) and NCLEX eligibility.
• BSN preferred and recommended to obtain BSN within 5 years.
• ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information.
• Develops, implements, evaluates and revises an individualized plan of care.
• Uses teach back to educate patient and family.
• Communicates patient status, goals and interventions during rounds and handoffs.
• Follows HIPAA policies and procedures.

The staff work together as an interdisciplinary team to provide respectful, patient-centered care for a diverse patient population. 5 North offers great learning opportunities, the chance to learn and hone many skills, sets the foundation for nursing practice, and facilitates the development of critical thinking as care is provided to a variety of diagnoses. Nurses on this unit earn their NIHSS certification within the first 6 months of hire.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Graduation from a school of nursing that results in the ability of the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.

Licensure:

• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• BLS.
• ACLS required for the following departments : Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, Emergency

Experience:

Experienced Canadian Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply

• Graduation from accredited nursing program.
• Effective January 1, 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
• Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care
