Job summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Downers Grove, IL provides compassionate, evidence-based care for patients in the Behavioral Health - Adult Intensive Unit (Males). This full-time night position offers a sign-on bonus and a strong, collaborative care team.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, developing care plans, administering medications, monitoring conditions, and coordinating with psychiatrists and therapists to support recovery, safety, and discharge

Qualifications

• Must hold current valid State RN license.
• BLS certificate required at hire and maintained.
• Experience with behavioral health inpatient units preferred.
• Knowledge of interdisciplinary team care and MH law.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments per orders.
• Document care in the EMR and monitor patient status.
• Respond to psychiatric crises with de-escalation techniques.
• Lead therapeutic groups and educate patients and families.
• Follow seclusion/restraint policies when clinically indicated.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists and social workers.
• Support discharge planning and safety initiatives.

Schedule: Full Time - Nights |3-12 hour shifts| 7p-7:30a

Hourly Rate: $35.35 to $53.58 an hour

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based care to patients with behavioral health and psychiatric conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patients and develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions.
• Monitor patient condition and document care in the EMR.
• Respond to psychiatric crises using appropriate de‑escalation and intervention techniques.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and provide patient education.
• Implement seclusion and restraint procedures in accordance with policy when clinically indicated.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, social workers, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, coping strategies, and discharge planning.
• Promote patient safety, recovery, and positive clinical outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $35.35 to $53.58 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
