Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Progressive Care Unit Float Pool. You will float across Medical Critical Care Step-Down, Trauma, Neuro, Cardiac and Intermediate Cardiac Care, covering night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. in a full-time role.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• LICENSURE: Virginia RN or eligible, or multi-state license.
• 1 year RN experience; critical care experience preferred.
• BSN preferred or ADN with plan to complete BSN within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient health assessments and synthesize data.
• Formulate individualized care plans and monitor trends.
• Support patients and families through care continuum.
• Advocate for patients' rights and coordinate services.
• Meet ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients.
• Document care activities and contribute to quality initiatives.

Job Description

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Progressive Care Unit Float Pool Team. As a Progressive Care Float Pool RN, you will float between the following units: Medical Critical Care Step-Down, Trauma Step-Down, Neuro Step-Down, Cardiac Step-Down, Intermediate Cardiac Care Unit. This role will be full-time, night shift Days Vary, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool Job Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
• Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues
• Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation
• Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes
• Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members
• Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certification: Basic Life Support; If Critical Care unit, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support upon start; If Pediatric unit, Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
• Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
• Experience: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse; if Critical Care Unit, minimum 1 year clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship
• Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree; If RN has an Associate's Degree, within 2 years of date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend, 2) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date, 3) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses, and 4) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
