Job summary

ChristianaCare Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Postpartum unit in Newark, DE. This full-time role involves 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) with weekend and holiday commitments.

The postpartum team cares for both delivering parents and stable newborns in a couplet care model. Qualification includes a BSN or commitment to BSN within three years, Delaware licensure or eligibility, BLS, and preferred NRP.

Qualifications

• BSN required or commitment to obtaining BSN within three years
• Experience in women's & children's services preferred
• Two years of Acute Care experience strongly preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Delaware
• BLS certification required
• NRP preferred or must be obtained upon hire
• RNC-MNN, RNC-OB certifications are recognized and encouraged

Responsibilities

• Care for postpartum patients and their stable newborns on the 6M/7M unit
• Provide couplet care assigning the delivered parent and newborn as part of the assignment
• Support rooming-in and family-centered care
• Assist with newborn care in the substance withdrawal program
• Work 12-hour shifts; night shift 7:00 PM–7:00 AM; weekends and holidays

The ChristianaCare Postpartum Unit (6M/7M) is a 72-bed inpatient unit that cares for postpartum patients and their stable newborns in the Women's and Children's Building on the Newark campus.

The average length of stay is 2-3 days post birth and the unit supports rooming in and family centered care. A couplet care model is utilized so that an RN will be assigned both the delivered parent as well as the newborn as a portion of their overall assignment. A nursery is maintained primarily for emergency management or for short term convalescent care. Postpartum staff also support the care of newborns in our substance withdrawal program.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BSN required or commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire
• Experience in women's & children's services preferred
• Two years of Acute Care experience strongly preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware
• BLS certification required
• NRP preferred or must be obtained upon hire
• The following professional certifications are recognized and encouraged in this patient care area include: RNC-MNN, RNC-OB

Hourly Pay Range: $42.11 - $67.37This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
