RWJBarnabas Health's Post Anesthesia Care Unit is seeking an experienced RN to join our Jersey City Medical Center team as a per diem day-shift RN, with every-other-weekend availability. The role emphasizes comprehensive patient assessment, safe medication administration, and coordinated care transitions in a dynamic PACU/ICU environment.

A NJ RN license, BLS, ACLS, and Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge are required, along with 2 years PACU/ICU experience.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Basic Dysrhythmia course completed and ACLS required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required or actively enrolled in BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, intervening early.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care.
• Serve as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers for timely decisions.
• Educate patients and families to ensure they feel informed and prepared for next care steps.
• Ensure accurate documentation in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary rounds to improve communication and transitions of care.
• Collaborate in a team-oriented environment to support patient outcomes.

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia course and ACLS required. A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required or actively enrolled in a BSN program with expected completion date. Minimum 2 years of PACU, ICU or Surgical ICU RN experience. Comfortable with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This is a per diem day shift. Must be able to work every other weekend. Scheduled as needed with a minimum requirement of 3 shifts a month and will need to work 1 winter and 1 summer holiday allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
