Job summary

Doctors Medical Center of Modesto, part of Tenet Healthcare, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pre-Op department. The role involves direct patient care across pediatric to geriatric populations in the surgical setting and requires completing preoperative prep and postoperative recovery tasks.

The nurse will perform baseline assessments, ensure the surgical checklist is followed, and provide discharge teaching. California RN license, ACLS/PALS, and TCAR timeline are specified.

Reporting to the Director of Patient Care Services/Shift Manager/Designee, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Responsible for the preoperative preparation of patients, including baseline assessment, skin preparation as required, and completion of the surgical checklist. Responsible for Phase II recovery of surgical patients including monitoring of physiological status, surgical wound care and discharge teaching.

Minimum Experience/Skills:

License/Certificates/Credentials:

Current: California RN license, ACLS and PALS certification within 3 months. TCAR required within 12 months of hire/transfer. For current employees within the department, TCAR must be obtained by October 1, 2019.
