Shriners Children’s in Spokane is seeking an Operating Room/PACU RN to join the Perioperative team. This role provides nursing care in both the OR and PACU Phase I, supporting the surgeon and anesthesiologist during intraoperative care.

BSN preferred or in-process to obtain BSN within five years; WA RN license required, with BLS and PALS within 3 months of hire. No weekends or nights; minimal call. The pay range is $41.04–$70.35 per hour, dependent on experience and equity.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred or in-process to obtain BSN within five years.
• RN license in Washington (WA) is required.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• PALS certification required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care to pediatric patients in perioperative areas, including Operating Room and Phase I Recovery.
• Supports surgeons and anesthesiologists during intraoperative care.
• Uses nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
• Ensures asepsis and infection control per AORN guidelines.
• Coordinates care with family-centered approach and multidisciplinary team.

This position provides care in both the OR and PACU Phase I of a patients’ surgical experience. The RN will function within the team by providing professional nursing care to patients whose protective reflexes or self-care abilities are potentially compromised during and/or immediately after surgical or other invasive procedures. Provides support to Surgeon and the Anesthesiologist as needed during the intraoperative process. Utilizes clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and the nursing process to provide care to patients in the operating room and/or PACU. Uses the principles and guidelines of the AORN to ensure asepsis and infection control. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects.*No Weekends, No Nights, Minimal call*Key Responsibilities:Provides nursing care to our pediatric patients in all of the perioperative areas, including the Operating Room, and Phase I Recovery Room.Performs professional nursing services for patients with a variety of needs utilizing the nursing process and within the scope, ethics and standards of practice of the American Nurses Association.Supports the family centered care philosophy of Shriners Children's.Performs assessments, interventions, circulating, IV starts, airway management, aseptic technique, technical equipment handling and troubleshooting, and various other high acuity skills designed to keep the patients safe before, during, and immediately after surgery.Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues.
