Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the PCU Cardiovascular unit on the night shift. This full-time position focuses on caring for patients recovering from cardiothoracic procedures and other cardiovascular care, requiring strong assessment, planning, and collaboration with the care team.

You will monitor patients, manage medications, and participate in continuous improvement while upholding safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and interprets diagnostic data, sets measurable care goals.
  • Develops and implements individualized plans of care.
  • Performs timely follow-up assessments and updates plans.

Job Description
Unit Highlights
  • PCU Cardiovascular (GT8) is a designated step‑down unit for patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgical procedures including coronary bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Pericardial window, device explanation and laser lead extraction. We also care for thoracic surgeries including esophagogastrostomy, lung resection, as well as thoracic and abdominal aneurysm repairs.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Assesses and interprets diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including lab results, non‑invasive monitoring data, and interdisciplinary team notes.Makes appropriate decisions and implements interventions based on nursing diagnoses according to patients' actual or potential health conditions or needs. Sets measurable and achievable short and long‑range goals for patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care. Prioritizes and completes follow‑up assessments, evaluating and modifying plans of care as needed. Completes timely assessments including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors, including signs of abuse or neglect. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department, exhibiting a desire to learn, teach, mentor, and advance nursing skills. Applies knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population. Abides by American Nurses Association Scope, Standards, and Code of Ethics, participating in practice changes, process improvement initiatives, and completing all required education. Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team, completing thorough hand‑off communication in all situations. Utilizes appropriate techniques, verbiage, and resources in all interactions with patients according to their level of understanding. Promotes an exceptional patient experience through effective communication with patients, families, and visitors, including hourly rounding.Adheres to all pertinent regulatory standards, follows strict infection prevention precautions, and ensures medication safety.Other duties as assigned.

Education
  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Work Experience
  • 1+ acute care hospital setting [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • ACLS [Required]

Pay Range

$31.85 - $52.76
