Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PCU Medical unit on days. This full-time role covers 36 hours per week with rotating weekends and holidays, and includes opportunities for advancement through the Clinical Ladder Program with potential salary increases.

The nurse will assess patients, administer medications, educate families, and coordinate care with the team to ensure high-quality outcomes; Florida background screening may apply and pay range is posted.

Qualifications

• RN license is required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Associate's degree in nursing is required; a Bachelor's is preferred.
• One+ year of acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments per orders and monitor reactions.

Unit Highlights

• PCU Medical (8-Tower) is a multi-system progressive care unit. We serve adults through geriatric lifespan of development that require complex, comprehensive multidisciplinary care. The care team is comprised of nurses, patient care techs, monitor techs, HUCs, education specialists, infection preventionists, care managers, physicians and nursing leaders. There are opportunities to become dobhoff, port certified and learn central line maintenance and care. From pre-cardiac surgery to gastrointestinal procedures, to intensive care unit step-downs- we see them all! As a PCU, we can start cardiac and insulin drips. It is a great unit to get a solid foundation of nursing skills in all the body systems.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients. Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.

• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills
• EKG (based on patient ; see document EKG and Advanced Life Support Requirements)
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills)
• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs
• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes

1+ acute care hospital setting [Preferred]
