Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PACU to join our Recovery team. The schedule is day shift with PRN as needed, weekdays.

You will perform direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process and collaborate with the care team to support recovery and safety. The ideal candidate holds an active NC (or compact) RN license, an Associate's degree (BSN preferred), and AHA BLS.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact RN license is required.
• Associate's degree is required; BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS certification required within six months of hire.
• One year of nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/PACU using the nursing process.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.
• Document timely and accurate information in the medical record.
• Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Participate in weekend and holiday call coverage.

Join our Recovery team where you will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Weekend and holiday call and occasion weeknight call coverage.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
