Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PACU, PRN with day shift. The role focuses on recovery/post-anesthesia care, with emphasis on accurate assessments, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Weekend and holiday call coverage is involved. Requirements include NC or compact RN licensure, an associate degree (BSN preferred), BLS within 30 days, ACLS and PALS within six months, and about one year of experience.

Schedule: Day shift (7:30a until last patient or until 5:30p). PRN - as needed, weekdays.

Join our Recovery team where you will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Weekend and holiday call and occasion weeknight call coverage.

How You'll Contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What We're Looking For

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
