Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center in North Carolina seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PACU. The role is PRN with day shifts, duties include direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit using the nursing process, and collaboration with the healthcare team to monitor patient progress.

The ideal candidate holds an active NC RN license, an Associate's degree (BSN preferred), and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact state RN license.
• Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Must have critical thinking skills and be able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in the PACU using the nursing process.
• Perform accurate patient assessments and document care plans.
• Communicate changes in patient condition with the healthcare team.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary care plan updates and quality assessments.
• Handle weekend and holiday call coverage as required.

Schedule: Day shift (7:30a until last patient or until 5:30p). PRN - as needed, weekdays.

Join our Recovery team where you will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Weekend and holiday call and occasion weeknight call coverage.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
