Job summary

Highpoint Health Sumner, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an experienced registered nurse to join the Recovery/PACU team in Gallatin, TN. This full-time, day-shift position emphasizes direct and indirect patient care, adherence to the nursing process, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

The role requires current RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS/PALS within the first year of hire, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required (current RN licensure accepted in lieu of degree); Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice; BLS required; ACLS and PALS within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect patient care in the PACU using the nursing process.
• Meets physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and families.
• Communicates changes in patient condition to the healthcare team; reports to the Director of Surgery.
• Participates in post-anesthesia care and ensures patient safety and advocacy.

How You'll Contribute

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition or response to treatment. Reports to the Director of Surgery.

Patient Populations Served: Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.

Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.

Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present; may involve contact with patients, blood, body fluids, or specimens.

Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
