Job summary

Highpoint Health Sumner in Gallatin, TN is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Surgery team on a PRN basis with required call. You will deliver direct patient care, administer medications, document care, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary colleagues to support patient well-being.

Strong assessment and communication are essential as you advocate for patients' safety. The role requires an Associate's Degree in Nursing, active TN RN license, and BCLS certification, with ACLS/PALS

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Current RN license in state of practice.
  • BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to surgery patients.
  • Administer medications, collect specimens, and perform treatments.
  • Document patient care and monitor condition for care team and family.
  • Coordinate transfers, discharge, and referrals with multidisciplinary team.
  • Educate patients and families according to age and culture.
  • Advocate for patient wellbeing and safety during care.

How you'll contribute

You'll make an impact by utilizing your specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving as a patient-care innovator. You will shape exceptional patient journeys every day and leverage your skills and our cutting-edge technology to directly impact patient wellbeing.

  • Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in Surgery
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Performs patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in other nursing units as necessary.

Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.

Exposure:

Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees.

Physical Requirements:

Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred.
