Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; ADN required, BSN preferred.
  • Licensed as an RN in the state of practice with CPR/BLS certification.

Overview
  • Janesville, Wisconsin
  • Monday through Friday schedule of 5 x 8 hour shifts between the hours of 6:45a-7:15p.
  • Call response time of 30 minutes
  • Night shift rotation for minimum of 2 years which is 3 x 12 hour shifts for that week.
  • The Janesville Hospital Operating Room is a diverse Team Based OR group that runs as a High Functioning Trauma facility and is staffed 24/7. We have multiple specialties that offer many opportunities for growth including Cardiac, Orthopedics, Neurology, General, Gynecology, ENT, Plastics, Eyes, Urology, Robotics and Trauma.

The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting, supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values and strategic plan. May include variable shifts, weekends, holiday and or on-call hours. Performs other duties as assigned including floating to various units based on identified needs and clinical competency.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
  2. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws practice act.
  3. Documents according to standards of care.
  4. Performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care.
  5. Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
  6. Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
  7. Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units’ departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
  8. Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
  9. Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited nursing program. ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred. May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines)

CERTIFICATION or LICENSURE

Licensed as an RN in state of practice. Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days. Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the Driver’s License Check and or Credit Check (for those positions requiring). Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written or oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

May include color blind test (per department guidelines)

The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
