Sentara Independence in Virginia Beach, VA, is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Innovative Inpatient Care Model in the Centralized Virtual Acute Care Department. This role is not remote and supports bedside staff by handling admissions, discharges, teaching, and medication reconciliation via video calls from the Virtual Care hub.

The ideal candidate has an RN license, an Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN/MSN preferred), BLS within 90 days, and Epic experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5 years of recent acute care bedside nursing experience.
• RN license (US) active with VA/NC multi-state capability.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS and ACLS preferred.
• Epic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing duties via video calls in the Virtual Care hub (admissions, discharges).
• Provide patient teaching and medication reconciliation.
• Support bedside nurses to alleviate workload while maintaining patient safety.
• Coordinate with HIPAA-compliant communication in hospital rooms.
• Engage with the care team to ensure safe, high-quality patient experiences.

City/StateVirginia Beach, VAWork ShiftSecond (Evenings)Overview:Sentara is hiring Registered Nurses for the Innovative Inpatient Care Model in the Brand-New Centralized Virtual Acute Care Department.This position is NOT Remote and is located at the Sentara Independence office in Virginia Beach, VA.Leverage the use of technology to enhance patient care in the hospital and provide support to nurses at the bedside. Virtual RNs can support the team at the bedside to alleviate the workload and provide greater satisfaction for both the patients and the nursing staff. They handle administrative tasks that take significant time but don’t require hands-on care. This improves workflow while ensuring patients are fully informed about the care they have received.Virtual nurses are not a replacement for bedside nurses, instead they serve as an additional member of the hospital care team. Bedside nurses and virtual nurses work together to ensure that patients continue to receive the safest and highest quality of care. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly.
