Job summary

Norman Regional in Norman, OK, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our 24-bed Med/Surg Observation Unit. The unit handles telemetry/medical-surgical cases such as chest pain, syncope, CHF, pneumonia and diabetes with a 4-6 patient ratio and a robust orientation and nurse residency program.

Essential functions include assessment, nursing diagnoses, care coordination, evaluation and discharge planning. Requires Diploma/ADN (BSN preferred), Oklahoma RN license and BLS; Night shift, Regular Full Time

Qualifications

• Diploma or ADN required; BSN/MSN preferred.
• Hospital nursing experience preferred.
• Oklahoma RN licensure and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assess/reassess patient health needs; involve team as appropriate.
• Develop nursing diagnoses and outcomes with care team.
• Coordinate and implement patient care based on evidence.
• Evaluate outcomes and adjust care as needed.
• Plan discharge in collaboration with care team.

Compensation / Benefits

• $27-84-$45.46/hr. based on previous work experience.
• Evening differential $2.50/hr.
• Night differential $3.00/hr.
• Weekend differential $3.00/hr.

Our Med/Surg Observation Unit is a fast paced 24 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit.Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes.Our nurse patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our care team includes a charge nurse and unit assistants with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a 6-8 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team, complemented by classroom courses, and a nurse residency program for new graduates. Job Summary

RN essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
• Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
• Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy
• Evaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions
• Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed

Qualifications

Education

• Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred

Experience

• Previous hospital experience helpful preferred

Licensure / Certification

• Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
• New grads are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program
