RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Nursing Float Pool at RWJUH Hamilton Hospital. The role supports surgical and invasive procedures, emphasizes teamwork and safety, and offers opportunities for growth within a purpose-driven health system.

Candidates must hold an active New Jersey RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications, and preferably a BSN. Night shifts with rotating weekends/holidays are available in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• ASN or Nursing diploma required; BSN strongly preferred and BSN within five years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients undergoing surgery or invasive procedures.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and intervene on clinical changes.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and treatments.
• Collaborate with physicians and other providers for coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families to support understanding and readiness for next steps.
• Document care accurately in the EMR (EPIC).
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care transitions.

The Registered Nurse is expected to work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality patient care in the Nursing Float Pool. As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• A Registered Nurse will be responsible for implementing and evaluating a plan of care for those patients undergoing a surgical and/or other invasive procedure. Aseptic technique is to be maintained at all times. Make sure the Operating Room is clean and the furniture to be used is properly arranged.
• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognizing subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands‑on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification.ASN or Nursing diploma required. If candidate possesses ASN or Nursing diploma, must agree to complete BSN within five years of hire date. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. 1 year acute care experience required. Med/surg Tele experience preferred

This position offers a consistent36 hours per week on nightshift.Rotating weekends as well as rotating holidays, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
