Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, invites applications for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Nursery. The unit features 18-bed Women’s Services with a Level 2B nursery and a 3x12 night schedule (7p–7a). Weekends and holidays required.

A $10,000 sign-on bonus for new grads and up to $20,000 for experienced RNs with a 2-year commitment is offered. Responsibilities include patient assessments, interventions, documentation, and care planning to support mothers and newborns.

Qualifications

  • Active North Carolina RN license or compact state license.
  • Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
  • One year of RN experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and identify needs.
  • Initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Provide age-appropriate patient care.
  • Document medical necessity accurately in the medical record.
  • Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
  • Conduct timely QI assessments.

Job Type: Full Time | Nights

$10,000 Sign-On Bonus for New Grad RNs and up to $20,000 Sign-On Bonus for experienced RNs with a 2-year commitment for eligible candidates.

More About Our Team

Join our team in a 18-bed Women's Services Unit featuring a Level 2B nursery with 6 beds, 8 bed Mother Baby Unit and 5 bed Labor and delivery unit.. With an average of 50 deliveries per month and a below-average C-section rate, our unit provides comprehensive care for expectant mothers and newborns. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment dedicated to promoting a positive birthing experience and ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and infants alike. You will also have the opportunity to cross-train in different areas of this department to gain experience. This department utilizes a self-scheduling application.

How You'll Contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for
  • Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
